Paul Zukerberg is a distinguished trial and personal injury attorney with more than 30 years of experience in both state and federal courts. He has litigated a wide range of civil and criminal cases, and has tried over 200 cases to verdict in major personal injury, contracts, civil rights, and criminal defense. His appellate work includes reported decisions on behalf of workers denied fair pay, first amendment law, and federal statutory interpretation.
Recently, Paul successfully sued the D.C. Council to preserve D.C. voters’ right to elect their own attorney general. A unanimous Court of Appeals agreed that the D.C. Council and Mayor had acted illegally in cancelling the 2014 attorney general election. Paul has extensive experience litigating in D.C. Superior Court, including successfully representing clients in the juvenile, felony, misdemeanor, domestic, family, probate, civil, and traffic divisions. Paul is driven to use his talents to help those most in need, and therefore frequently represents clients pro bono or at reduced rates.
Paul graduated from from Hamilton College in 1979 with degrees in Literature and Philosophy, and received his law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law in 1984. While at American University, he joined the Criminal Justice Clinic and was specially admitted as a public prosecutor in District Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. In 1984, Mr. Zukerberg received an award for the best brief in the annual moot court competition, which started him on a life-long interest in appeals.
Paul is a member of the Maryland Bar, Virginia Bar, DC Bar, United States Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, NORML National Legal Committee, Viriginia Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Maryland Association for Justice, DC Association of Trial Lawyers, Maryland Criminal Justice Association, and Superior Criminal Justice Association.
Paul lives in Adams Morgan with his wife, Dr. Ilana Zukerberg, and their two children.
